Soil plays a critical role in plant health and immunity. One of the best tools for promoting soil health is an understanding of soil nutrition. This was a fascinating look at basic factors involved in appropriate nutrient management to improve soil function.

Topics included:
* Identifying missing components and limiting factors
* Soil physical properties that may limit nutrient cycling
* Soil biomass support
* Critical nutrient relationships
* 'Nutrients' we assume are in place, mainly carbon, oxygen and water
* Biostimulants and catalyst tools

The speaker presentation was followed by a group discussion with time for audience questions.

Steve Trotter is an independent researcher for turf and agriculture, and
consultant for Agroplasma.

This event is being co-hosted by UC Cooperative Extension of San Luis Obispo, and co-sponsored by the Coastal San Luis Resource Conservation District, and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) in Templeton. USDA is an equal opportunity provider, employer and lender.
