The need for graduates who are well trained to implement sustainability practices is being felt in nearly every arena of today’s professional world. This is true particularly in the realm of agriculture and natural resources management.
The Center for Sustainability assists the College in coordinating initiatives specifically focused on sustainability challenges facing the agricultural industry. It does this via traditional means such as curricula development, fostering of on-farm demonstration and outreach programs. The Center Center for Sustainability is also a driver in the development of relevant, cutting-edge curricula, hands-on learning opportunities and professional development in Cal Poly’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. The Center focuses on:
- Curricula for sustainability
- Demonstration of sustainable agricultural practices
- Student intern and leadership opportunities
- Continuing education and community programs
As with all centers at Cal Poly, the Center for Sustainability is self-supporting. Therefore, support from those who would like to the Center become a 'go to' resource is vital. I urge you to consider contributing. The impact of your participation will be significant.

The Cal Poly College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences has established the Center for Sustainability to help provide focus and leadership for its sustainability efforts. Cal Poly has one of the largest university programs in agriculture in the country, and its graduates have a profound role in Western Agriculture. One of our goals is to help make sure these young professionals are equipped with skills for 21st Century agriculture while helping to tackle immediate challenges we face today.
A strong Center for Sustainability at Cal Poly will make a marked impact on the educational experience of many of our future employees and your involvement as a founding funder will give you a voice in shaping that experience.
Stewardship Circle members are a forward thinking group of industry and community leaders who are helping the Center build upon Cal Poly’s strong polytechnic tradition of Learn by Doing through the development of new programs addressing urgent challenges in the food and agricultural system.
Donors making a tax-deductible financial commitment of a minimum of $5,000 per year over three years receive Sustainability Circle recognition and benefits.
As a Sustainability Circle member, you will also receive advantages and special invitations to exclusive Sustainability Circle events, such as:
- Networking and exploration of new ideas with other leaders in sustainability
- An opportunity to meet Cal Poly students, faculty and alumni
- Center assistance in pitching your projects and research needs on campus
- A VIP annual luncheon with the college dean
I think this is a great opportunity for you and I urge you to give it your serious consideration. I know you would be a highly valued addition to this group. Thank you very much for considering joining us in this ground-breaking effort.
