"Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing As If Food, Farms and Fertility Mattered"
The Center for Sustainability was proud to celebrate our local food and farmers as we welcomed guest speaker, Woody Tasch as he shared his unique perspectives on how rethinking our investment strategies could save our soil and re-energize the food / agricultural economy.
The Hearst Ranch Dairy Barn
This was an opportunity to taste the unique creations of leading Central Coast chefs in one of our most spectacular farm settings – the Hearst Ranch in San Simeon, a private, historic venue rarely available to the general public - all the while supporting Cal Poly's College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences’ Center for Sustainability.
Honoring FARMER OF THE YEAR Alexis Negranti
Alexis Negranti of Negranti Dairy and Artisan Creamery was honored at the Center’s annual “Taste of the Future” dinner as the 2012 Farmer of the Year by the Cal Poly CAFES Center for Sustainability . Each year, this award goes to a young Cal Poly graduate who has chosen farming as a career path, who has made a contribution to that field since graduation, and who shows promise for serving as a future model for sustainability in food and agriculture. Together with her husband, Wade, also a Cal Poly alumnus, Negranti founded the family-owned business, Negranti Dairy is being recognized for its all-natural sheep milk ice cream made with real, local, sustainable ingredients.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR 2012 SPONSORS!
Many thanks to those who joined us at the stunningly beautiful Hearst Ranch in San Simeon. Thanks also to our guest speaker, chefs, vintners and sponsors who helped make this such a wonderful event. We greatly appreciate your support!
